Case of the “Mondays”

You know that phrase “I’ve got the case of the Mondays”? I have a theory that it actually lasts all week. There is no such thing as “Case of the Mondays” anyway…I’m gonna go with “I have a case of the week days” from now on. Not only does the weekend never last long enough (besides the fact that I work on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays), but the workload always seems to pile up. You catch up on one thing, only to have something else added on.

With wedding planning it gets even more complicated…and then working full time and going to school part time. Today I felt like my head was going to burst after Math class and then I had to go to a training for work and found I hit my limit 10 minutes into the new information. I find myself sitting and staring at a wall not thinking about anything…Either that or repeating “5 months” over and over in my head.

Not to worry! I haven’t gone completely insane. I definitely got a little stressed out there for a minute, but that’s where good friends come in and weekend trips to friends and the fiance. Thank the lord.

January 25th-I went up to see a friend (and my fiance) and spent Saturday with her. We picked out her dress for my wedding and then ended up touring around the mall. The photobooth was hilarious.

My trip up north was successful. I wish I’d had more time to visit my friend as well as Peter, but the time will come where I’m more free to do that.

We went to Davids Bridal and bought her dress for my wedding *Happy Dance* so that’s one down and 5 to go! Is it just me or are the consultants at that place pretty consistently grumpy and/or inattentive? Ok maybe not THAT often, but this chick wasn’t the best. Not only was she grumpy and inattentive but she was really disorganized resulting in us having to come back after we had already gone to dinner and everything. Oy.

Tip of the day:Β

Don’t listen to the people at Davids Bridal about shipment dates. They’re never right. All they want is to get you to buy the dress, full price, ASAP. Don’t let them be pushy-it isn’t their wedding anyways!

January 26th-Yep...Super lame photo. But it goes to show how big the Seahawks are right now. This was in the news paper (make a Seahawks airplane). I found it a little funny. Go Hawks!

I meant to take better photos of my trip (Peter doesn’t like his photo being taken anyways) but ended up with this photo of something that was in the paper. Who’s excited for the Super Bowl this weekend! Yayah! Go Hawks!

January 27th-I found this hat on Amazon and just had to buy it for my sister. She was so happy she slept in it that night.

I don’t know if any of you are Doctor Who? fans, but my sister is. Haha. She was so excited about this hat I bought her. I really need to get back to watching it.

January 28th-I bought these for my wedding. I thought it would make some of the pictures fun. Anyway-here are the nieces modeling some of them for me.

My nieces have been in Canada this last week and so I finally get to see them. They are so cute! Anyways-They modeled the new photo booth props I got for the wedding. I thought it would make some fun photos for that day. πŸ™‚

Anyways-I hope you all are having a good week and not the “case of the weekdays”. Almost to the middle! πŸ˜€

Au revoir.

Extra Tibit:

Anyone ever watch Mr. Bean? I used to love it. Anyways-I ran across this Youtube video of the best stuff. It’s worth a watch if you need a laugh.

Boutonnieres, Candy, and Chinese

This week has brought on a lot of wedding planning, work, and school junk. It’s not that I don’t like wedding planning-it mostly that everyone has an opinion about what I should or shouldn’t do and I find it slightly aggravating.

It will take me a while to get to the point where I can ignore comments and just do what I want. I’ll get there eventually.

January 22nd-I found myself craving M&M's with peanuts after the gym. So I bought some. A lot of them.

I’m trying to keep on top of the wedding planning. It isn’t easy, but I really want to take advantage of the time I have left so I don’t end up freaking out about these stupid things right before the wedding. I made a commitment to make the bouquets and boutonnieres so I’m not going to waste the money and time I’ve spent on them. I feel pretty happy with the results I have thus far and there’s only a couple finishing touches to add.

January 23rd-I went to my friends house so she could help me making more button flowers for the bouquets and I ended up just making the boutonnieres. I still have more to make for attendants, moms and such but I have the groomsmen and dads all done. Just need to add leaves, floral tape, and ribbon. :)

I went to the gym once this week on top of Yoga. The food aspect of being healthy didn’t work out so well, but I’ll get back on track.

January 24th-My pregnant sister was craving Chinese food so I went to my favorite (Portland) Chinese restaurant. I always have the best leftovers.

All in all a successful week. For those of you who live in Portland, I hope you survive the wind. For the rest of you, I hope you have a good weekend.

How to Make Your Own Cake Stand (DIY)

When I was talking to the person I am having make my cake she asked me if I had a cake stand because I’m not planning on having a very big cake which could make it easy for it to get lost. I checked on Etsy and although I found some really great cake stands I was not willing to spend $75-$160 on a cake stand I’ll probably use just for my wedding…And maybe a few times after that.

I can’t take full credit for this idea (although I was trying to figure out a way to make it), but I decided to go to Goodwill and buy a candle stick holder and a glass plate and glue them together.

So here we go!

Supplies:

Glass Epoxy (more permanent) or Hot glue

Candle stick holder

Glass plate

Patience

You can get glue that is also used for fish tanks. It's more permanent, and also water proof.

First you want to wash the candle stick holder and plate-Especially if it’s from Goodwill! Then dry (duh).

It can be as fancy as you want of course or you could go with a colored plate...just be careful because if the design pops out it makes it hard to keep the plate flat on the candle stick.

Put the glue on the rim of the candle stick holder. Try to make it even, but it's not a huge deal as long as the rim is covered. Keep in mind it will spread when the plate is placed on top.

You will need to let it cure for 24 hours. I added glue to it after it was mostly dry just to be sure.

See? Super easy! And it only cost about $10 and about $5 for the glue. But depending on the plate and holder you get you could probably do it for WAY cheaper.

You can also spray paint it if you want. The sky is the limit on this one. πŸ™‚

I can’t wait to use this for my wedding, and since I used the epoxy-hopefully many more times. πŸ˜€

Busy Bee

I keep telling myself I will blog more often, but it isn’t happening.

I finally got a day to do a whole bunch of stuff cause my math class was cancelled and I wasn’t about to wait 3 hours at school for my yoga class. So I mailed out a BUNCH of save-the-dates, started laundry, copied a couple discs for some people, finished my address list of labels, and made a cake stand. I feel like I’ve been pretty productive.

Today is the 21st-so that means I have 5 months until I am married! YES! I’m so excited! And I have so much to do. AH! haha

January 17th-I've been getting a lot of ads in the mail for weddings especially. I'm not sure why, but I thought this was super funny.

Sunday was the Portland Bridal Show and I went with a big group of people. It was a lot of fun. My friend who is getting married soon won the 3 night stay at Skamania Lodge which was SUPER awesome.

Wedding tips of the day:

#1 Don’t waste your money on cake stands! Make your own (DIY Tutorial to come!) or borrow one. Seriously. It’s worth it.

#2Β Don’t hold back on registering. If you’re worried it’s too much, don’t. Think of it as a future shopping list. If someone doesn’t get you something, then you can get it later. Also-make sure to add a variety of things so people have stuff to choose from.

January 21st-Sam and Modelo (My brothers dog) in the back yard. Mo apparently didn't want to pose and Sam gave me a super big yawn. Thanks boys.

Sorry it was so lame. But I’ll try and come up with more exciting things…Like a knitting project. πŸ™‚

Random stuffage

Ok! I’m back. I’m still tinkering around with a thought I had the other day about hashtags (BLECH) so I haven’t finished the blog I was thinking about. I’d rather avoid sounding too one sided so when I feel more comfortable with it I’ll post it. πŸ˜€

Anyway-work and school seem to be keeping me busy. When I’m not there I’m usually sleeping. This week has also been dedicated to mailing out save-the-dates and tracking people down for addresses.

I have to say that this part of the wedding planning is driving me completely insane. Even after messaging people I have been ignored when requesting addresses. Not sure what that’s all about-But whatever.

So wedding tip #1 of the day:

Don’t worry about not getting peoples addresses. If they don’t give it to you (especially after a personal request) there is no one to blame for them not being invited except THEM.

Side note: If you have a long engagement in the works-Start on getting addresses ASAP. It’s a total pain.

January 13th-While watching Sherlock I got a cute picture of my dog, Sam. He really likes it when we're all in the same room cause he likes to hang with us.

Wedding tip #2: Get labels for your addresses. BOTH address and return. It’ll save your wrists. Super cheap too.

Yoga is going well so far. I still despise “downward facing dog” and prefer “upward facing dog”.

Seriously- How is that even restful? Maybe I’m just a weakling, but I hate it mostly cause of the head rush it gives me.

Getting myself to the gym has been difficult this week. Totally unmotivated and exhausted. We’ll see if I even make it tonight.

Anyway-That’s all for now. I’ll try and be better about not posting so many pictures at a time. Although be prepared for when I’m on my 2 week honeymoon cause I will guarantee that I will NOT be blogging during that time. I’ll be playing a lot of catch-up. πŸ™‚

Toodles!

The end of a long week

This truly has been a long week. I swear I’m not complaining at all-It’s just true. It was a successful week for sure-school and work went fine and yesterday I was able to make it up to see Pete and watched the Seahawks game.

Ok ok…So not everyone is a fan and I will be the first one to admit that I’m not a die hard, but I’m pretty dang excited about how they’re doing especially after a truly disappointing season for the Mariners. Blech!

On to bussiness. I’m a couple days behind on the Daily Photo Challenge Β so here they are.

January 10th-Who can say they can eat their Christmas gift? Haha

Ok-I have another blog I’ve been thinking about lately so I’m off to write that. Thanks for looking. I promise to take some more interesting ones in the future.

Birthday Wishes

Another day at school gave me a better idea of what yoga is like. It was much better. I think I liked it more since I was so sore. All day I was avoiding standing up or sitting down for fear I would have to do one or the other. I would sit in my class and dread the moment I had to get back up. Pretty pathetic, but I can’t help it! I went lap swimming at work yesterday which carried on over to day.

I even got myself to hit the gym with my brother today. How? I have NO clue. Once I got there it wasn’t so bad..You know, besides the actual working out part. Now my forearms are sore along with my legs and shoulders. Tomorrow it’ll probably be my core. That’s ok though-It needs a little taming. Haha

I would like to mention a couple things though. What is with the BO in my yoga class?! Seriously people..Al-natur-al only goes so far before you start deterring people from standing near you. Maybe find a natural soap to put under your arm pits? Please? (Not that any of them are reading this)

Although I like yoga more today, I still have a love hate relationship with the “downward dog” pose. It gives me a head ache. Why must I hang my head and give myself a head rush? Uhg

Today is my little brothers birthday. He turns 15 today…I think?

I just say 6 and stick with that.

January 9th-Oh how time flies. Little Joey getting all grown up. It's looking like a fire hazard now.

Maybe some time I’ll take some yoga pictures. I think I’m getting the hang of some of them. Probably not that names though.

On another note Math is still good. My homework is to watch a documentary. Not so bad, right?

Math would be even better though if maybe the guy in front of me pulled up his pants. And for your enjoyment I even got a picture. I figure I shouldn’t be the only one who feels they need to gouge their eyes out. Keep it mind-this is AFTER he pulled his pants up. It was way worse before.

IMAG0478

Until next time.

Just run me over

So after my trip to the gym last night the soreness (is that even a word?) eased in. I woke up at 5am and felt a little bit of it and as the day wore on it got worse. I figured…well…No big deal. Keep it up. You won’t regret it and what’s a little bit of soreness (whatever, if it isn’t I’ll MAKE it a word) anyway?

I took a nap because that’s just what you have to do after getting up that early. When I woke up it was a little worse again. I sat down and had a silent argument with myself about working out again.

Logical Danie says:

It will help because you’re sore and doing cardio will help. Plus you don’t want to fall behind do you?

Whiny Danie says:

I don’t wanna!

Eventually I got myself to go to work early and lap swim. I ended up with half a mile of kicking and swimming.

I’m telling you right now. It made a worse. It feels a little bit like a baby rhino came and trampled me and came back with some friends for more. Ouch.

Anyway-All the whining aside, i’m determined to keep it up. I don’t need to lose weight, just tone and maintain.

January 8th-I know...My pictures are super boring right now. But if you read what this says it should give you a good laugh. It's from my lifeguard manual/book I had to study for my re-certification class. Classic!

If you want another laugh for the day read the reviews for these gummy bears:

I honestly don’t know how they can justify selling them after the reviews they got. Haha!

With all that being said I bid you adieu.

Starting over

With the new year comes new things within the first few weeks of the year. I started a new schedule at work and school. So far so good. I’m already really tired, but that will go away with time as I get used to my schedule.

This time though, I get to sleep in on Tuesday and Thursday mornings which will be a huge help. I’ll probably use that as last minute time for homework if needed, but I only have one real class so I don’t think that’ll be necessary.

January 5th-Oh ice cream. A friend and enemy.

First day of school went really well. I’m only taking Math 105 (basically for people who aren’t majoring in Math, most likely Art) and Yoga (cause I needed the credit).

Math was good. I was surprised by how much I remembered so that was nice and the teacher was great. Yoga was a bit…Strange. I didn’t find all the weird words to be useful-but whatever floats your boat. It was my first time taking it and it wasn’t bad. The teacher was nice and not too…What’s the word? Let’s go with “flowery”.

I think I can get through this term ok. I keep saying “A C will do just fine” but I know I’m too much of a perfectionist to settle for that.

January 7th-When push comes to shove you start to remember those things you tried so hard to forget. Just one. More. Term!

I know-Boring post. But I’m off to the gym (another thing I’m starting all over with) to let my brother kick my butt.

Adios.

Baby it’s cold outside

If any of you are from Portland, you’ll know that we get a lot of rain. And if we don’t get any rain it tricks us into thinking it’s super nice out by showing the sun. Then once you get outside you realize it’s freaking cold out and run back in to get your hat, coat, gloves, scarf, and an extra pair of pants.

Ok so maybe it isn’t THAT cold. But it’s pretty dang chilly even with the sun out. We’re now in the time of year where we get a ridiculous amount of fog. Usually I wouldn’t mind, but the other night I was driving back from Washington after a visit with Pete and had to go 50mph in a 70 because I couldn’t see a few feet in front of me. Quite frightening. Obviously I made it back safe, but it got me home a lot later than I had planned.

Anyways-the week has finally ended and I’m starting to get nervous for the term to start. It’s stupid actually..All I have is Math and Yoga. How hard can it be? Well I HATE Math..so pretty hard. I should be more optimistic. I just have one more term and I’m free. FREE PEOPLE!

I’ve been kicking myself for slacking on the save-the-dates. I need to get them in the mail. It’s terrible. But postage actually costs money so that’s made it a lot harder. However I’m full of excuses. I’ll send them soon. I promise.

January 3rd-I got a sealer for wax to seal my letters. I don't know why I like doing this so much, but I just love the extra special touch it adds to letters. I love getting them in the mail, but I also love sending them. Anyway, I bought some Harry Potter forever stamps about a week ago and sealed some letters and stamped them. It's the little things I enjoy sometimes. :)

My little sister, Natalie, has a friend who lives in Tillamook near the coast and she stayed there a couple days this week. I offered to drive over and pick her up. I didn’t expect the weather to be so wonderful though! Once the sun went down it got cold, but it wasn’t even windy on the beach.

I got Pete to come along with me though so that was extra nice. We made a day out of it..After we picked up his work suits we got lunch and headed out. Once we picked up Natalie we watched the sunset on the beach and got some good pizza.

January 4th-Natalie, Pete, and myself on the beach. It made for a nice day. Who would have thought the beach would make a nice trip in January in Oregon?? Good surprise though.

With all the excitement of the day (and the driving) I’d say it’s my bed time.

See you next time!
